Nerdy Sumer Camps-Part Two

The second option for parents looking to sign up their kids for something they’ll enjoy is Happy Harbor Comics‘ Summer Camps for Aspiring Comics Creators.

They’re having two camps actually… the first one, “In The Beginning” is for ages 9-12 and runs from July 27-29. The second one “To Be Continued” is for ages 13-17 and runs from August 10-12.

IN THE BEGINNING (ages 9 – 12):
Directed towards grade school-aged participants, each of the camp’s 3 days will be divided into a writing and a drawing component, featuring interactive exercises and activities designed to develop skills in the written and illustrated components of comics creation. Campers will be taken step by step through the process of creating a comic, as well as enjoy entertaining comic-related activities that will enhance the participants’ understanding and appreciation of the Comics medium and the creative community behind it.

TO BE CONTINUED (ages 13 – 17):
Tailored for middle and high school-aged participants who have a greater facility with writing and drawing skills, this camp is similar in structure to our camp for ages 9 to 12. Each of the camp’s 3 days will include writing and drawing components, and interactive exercises designed to enhance skills in the written and illustrated components of comics creation. Participants will be guided through the phases of comic creation, take part in group activities, and engage in discussions about their work in order to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Comics medium and the creative community behind it.

Launch Party!
After the anthologies are printed, all the contributors for each of the camps and their guests will be invited back to Happy Harbor for their own special spotlight on their works at our Comic Book Launch Parties! Just like the pros, each of the contributors will engage with the public, signing copies of their book and proudly sharing their work! The date and time of the Launch Party for each camp will be announced following the printing of the anthologies and each of the camps’ participants will receive a personal invitation.
