Nerdy Things To Do In Edmonton This Weekend (July 21-23)

So K-Days starts today with a giant parade down Jasper at 10am. Maybe not exactly nerdy in & of itself but the Extra Life component has enough to qualify on video game content alone (Arcades, tournaments, game designer booths, video game orchestras & lots more). Catch the Extra Life area for the next ten days!

Beyond that, Edmonton’s LARP convention is on this weekend (3 full days at the old Westmount Theatre) and Randall City (Smash Bros. tournament) will have 200+ competitors as well.

If you’re looking for a little smaller event, the board game cafés all have something going on, with Gamers’ Lodge tonight hosting advanced games, Board N Brew hosting a Rolling Empires Demo (check it out on Kickstarter-fully funded already!) and Table Top Café having a King of Tokyo tournament.

Finally, if you want to check out a different kind of VR experience (other than gaming), Inception VR has a VR art show on Saturday. Will be very interesting to see what artists can do with it too…

(Oh yeah, auditions are this weekend for that Buffy The Vampire Slayer Musical too!)

Once again if I’ve missed anything, send me an e-mail at and I’ll add it too.
